What’s included in a tune-up

A proper tune-up isn’t a single task — it’s a scheduled set of inspections and replacements that keep the engine running the way the manufacturer intended.

  • Spark plug replacement using the right plug for your specific vehicle
  • Ignition coil inspection — we test each one
  • Air filter replacement (engine and cabin)
  • Fuel system inspection — fuel pressure and visible condition
  • PCV valve and breather system check
  • Throttle body inspection and cleaning when appropriate

When to schedule a tune-up

Service intervals are specific per brand and per model — we follow the manufacturer’s schedule for your specific vehicle.

If you notice rough idle, hesitation on acceleration, a change in fuel economy, or a misfiring sensation, bring it by. We’ll scan it, take a look, and let you know what we find.

The right part for your vehicle

We use the correct spark plug for your specific car — the right heat range, the right gap, the right brand for that engine. The wrong plug causes problems that look like different problems, which is not a place to compromise.

Sometimes the correct choice is an OEM part and sometimes it is a quality alternative — what matters is that it is the right call for that particular engine. We go into how we make that call in the right part for your specific vehicle.

Every make we service

Tune-up work is not a European-only service. We do this for Asian, domestic, and European vehicles alike — the local community drives all of them, and all of them are welcome here.

What changes between makes is the specification. Plug type and heat range, coil design, filter part numbers, throttle body procedure, and the reset or relearn steps that follow all vary by manufacturer. European platforms are a particular strength of ours, and several of them also call for a coding or adaptation step after certain components are replaced. We handle those in-house. We do not service diesel engines.

Why we inspect rather than assume

A tune-up is partly a replacement job and partly an inspection. While the ignition system is apart, we are looking at the surrounding components — coil condition, connector condition, evidence of oil where oil should not be, the state of the filters we are pulling out.

That is often where something useful turns up. If we find something, we tell you what it is and why it matters in plain language, and you decide what happens next. Nothing gets ordered without your approval.

What a reset or relearn is for

Modern engines adapt to their own components over time, so after certain parts are replaced the vehicle needs to recalibrate to what is now installed. Every car needs the reset or relearn procedure it calls for, and skipping that step is why a job can look finished but not quite feel right.
