People ask us about the name fairly often. “OREC Imports” — does that mean you only work on imported cars? It’s a fair question, and the honest answer is a good story about who we are.

Where the word comes from

In the car world, “imports” has long been a casual way of describing vehicles that were built overseas and brought into the country — as opposed to domestic models built here at home. For a long time, that’s how a lot of people sorted cars: import or domestic. The word stuck around in shop names all over the country, ours included.

What it means for us

We’ve been on Main Street in Chula Vista for 10 years, backed by over 35 years of experience in the trade. Over those years, we’ve built real depth working on European vehicles — Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Land Rover, and Jaguar. That kind of work takes the right tools, the right software, and a lot of hands-on time with those cars. It’s a particular strength of ours, and the name reflects that history.

But the name isn’t a fence

Here’s the part that matters most: we are a full-service, all-makes shop. We work on what the local community drives — Asian, domestic, and European, all of it. Our local military community brings every kind of vehicle through our doors, and they’re all welcome.

So if you’ve got a Toyota, a Honda, a Ford, or a Chevy, you are absolutely in the right place. The “Imports” on the sign is about our roots and one of our strengths — it was never meant to turn anyone away.

European service just happens to be where we go a little deeper than most. Think of it as a plus on top of everything else we do, not the whole of what we do.

What stays the same for every car

No matter what you drive, the way we take care of you doesn’t change:

  • We explain what we find in plain language before any parts are ordered.
  • We use the right part and the right certified fluid for your specific vehicle — sometimes that’s OEM, sometimes a quality alternative, always the right call for that car.
  • We follow each manufacturer’s own service intervals, because they’re specific to the brand.
  • Our work is backed by a 12-month / 12,000-mile warranty, and we perform warranty work in-house.

As the owner puts it: “We treat everybody like family. We’re not here to talk money — we’re here to take care of you.”
