When you bring your car to OREC Imports, we use the right part — and the right certified fluid — for your specific vehicle. Sometimes that’s OEM (the part made by the original manufacturer). Sometimes that’s a quality alternative made by the same factory that supplies the original. It’s always the right call for that car.
This post is a plain explanation of how we think about parts.
What OEM means
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer — the company that made the part installed at the factory. When you buy an OEM part, you’re getting that same part with the original manufacturer’s branding.
When a quality alternative is the right call
For other parts, a well-made alternative from a known supplier is genuinely the same part with a different label. There’s no benefit to paying for the badge when the part inside matches.
How we decide
We don’t apply a blanket rule. We apply the right answer for the specific job on the specific car. We’ve worked on enough vehicles to know which parts matter and which don’t, on which platforms.
What we won’t use
We don’t put off-brand, unbranded, or unknown-source parts on customer vehicles. Wrong parts cause problems that look like different problems, and that’s not how we want to work.
Warranty
Our work is backed by a 12-month / 12,000-mile warranty.
