Safety Inspections
Comprehensive vehicle safety inspections for every make we service. We evaluate the safety-critical systems and provide a written report.
What a safety inspection covers
A safety inspection evaluates the vehicle systems most directly responsible for occupant protection and road safety:
- Braking system: pad thickness, rotor condition, brake fluid, brake lines, hoses, ABS function
- Steering and suspension: ball joints, tie rod ends, steering linkage, shock absorbers, struts
- Tires and wheels: tread depth (legal minimum 2/32”, our recommended minimum 3/32”), sidewall integrity, wheel fastener torque
- Lighting: all exterior lights, brake lights, turn signals, hazard lights, headlight aim
- Visibility: windshield condition (chips, cracks in driver’s line of sight), wiper blades
- Seatbelts: retractor function, latch operation, webbing condition
- Airbag system: fault code scan; dashboard warning lights
- Exhaust system: leak detection, catalytic converter integrity
Written safety report
Every safety inspection includes a written report with pass/fail notation for each system, photos of any areas of concern, and a prioritized list of recommended repairs (safety-critical vs. maintenance advisory).
Common uses for a safety inspection
- Fleet management: periodic vehicle safety compliance verification
- Insurance documentation: verifying vehicle condition after a covered event
- Peace of mind: annual check of safety-critical systems on a high-mileage vehicle
- Pre-trip inspection: long-distance travel preparation
