Summer in the South Bay means warmer days and longer drives. Heat asks a little more of a car than the mild months do, so early summer is a natural time to give yours a once-over. Here’s a plain, high-level look at the things worth keeping an eye on — nothing alarming, just good habits.
This is general guidance for every make we service: Asian, domestic, and European alike.
Air conditioning
The first thing most people notice in the heat is the air conditioning. If it isn’t blowing as cold as it used to, it’s worth having a look before the warmest stretch of the year. A/C systems are happiest when they’re checked now and then, and it’s a comfortable thing to have sorted early.
The cooling system
Your car has its own way of staying comfortable in the heat, and the cooling system is a big part of that. Coolant does quiet, steady work all summer long. We make sure it’s at the right level and that it’s the correct, certified fluid for your specific vehicle — the right coolant for one make isn’t always the right one for another.
Tires
Warm roads and summer mileage both ask a bit more of your tires. It’s a good moment to glance at their overall condition and make sure they’re set the way the manufacturer recommends. If you’re planning road trips, this is an easy thing to take care of before you go.
The battery
Heat is actually harder on a battery than cold is. If yours has a few years on it, summer is a sensible time to have it looked at, so it keeps starting reliably through the season.
Fluids and the small stuff
Summer is also a fine time for the routine items — a check of the fluids, the wipers, and the washer reservoir for the dusty days. Every car is a little different here, which is why we follow each manufacturer’s own service schedule rather than one universal rule.
A note we like to repeat: all maintenance is priority. The small, steady items are what keep the bigger ones from sneaking up on you.
Every make is welcome
Whatever you drive, you’re in the right place. We work on what the local community drives, and European service — Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Land Rover, and Jaguar — is a particular strength of ours. Our local military community brings every kind of vehicle through our doors, and they’re all welcome.
As the owner puts it: “We treat everybody like family. We’re not here to talk money — we’re here to take care of you.”
